How to sign in and out of PSN

Learn how to sign in and out of PlayStation™Network on PlayStation®5 consoles and PlayStation®4 consoles.

PlayStation Network (PSN) is an online service that lets you expand your enjoyment of your console. To sign in to PSN, you must have an account and an Internet connection.

How to sign in to PSN on PS5 consoles

The sign-in screen appears when attempting to access online features or services on your PS5® console.   

  1. Access the sign-in screen by going to the home screen and selecting Settings > Users and Accounts.
  2. Select Account > Sign in.
  1. Go to Settings > Account Management > Sign in
  2. Enter your sign-in ID (Email Address) and password > Confirm

If the PS4® console is not already activated as your Primary PS4, you will be asked if you want to activate it. Select Yes or Do Not Activate.

  • After you sign in once, you remain signed in until you sign out. You may be signed out at certain times, such as when there's a system software update or if there's a network outage.

Sign in with 2-step verification

With 2-step verification (2SV) activated, signing in to your PlayStation console requires a password as well as a verification code that’s sent to your mobile phone via an authenticator app or text message. To set up this security feature, please visit the 2-step verification guide below.

Sign out of PlayStation Network on PS5 consoles

  1. Go to Settings Users and Accounts.
  2. Select Other Sign Out.
  1. Go to Settings > Account Management.
  2. Select Sign Out.

Sign out of PlayStation Network on all devices

If you cannot physically access your PlayStation console, you can sign out of all your devices by using Account Management online.

  1. Sign in to Account Management.

  2. From the left sidebar, select Security

  3. Select Sign Out on All Devices from the bottom of the screen.
